Head First is looking for a talented marketing director to join our team. Here's what we're looking for:

We want a seasoned marketing professional with a strong aptitude for technology and a wealth of expertise in creating and developing marketing content. The ideal candidate is responsible for marketing all product and services related to the Head First brand. As a critical player on the Head First team, you'll help build the framework for and drive consistent messaging and alignment across all channels.

Our successful candidate is ideally already working in a media business, and is able to demonstrate results working with online, print, and in person products and services including attracting massive online audiences and increasing direct sales.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to product development by collaborating with team members to ensure we have the best products for our audience.
  • Devise and implement an effective market research program.
  • Create a strategy for the education market.
  • Effectively juggle multiple marketing programs; deliver results to tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Develop relationships with key partners; source new alliances.
  • Execute strategy for our growing division and serve as a guardian of brand values.
  • Manage costs in line with performance and budgets.
  • Measure impact and success of all marketing activity, especially website metrics and purchasing patterns. In other words: measure everything.
  • Develop a keen market sense (including non-traditional competitors such as Google).
  • Get in front of our audience and spread the word about the Head First brand.
  • Coordinate our advertising strategy (design and placement of web-based ads, direct mail, and other media)

Required Experience:
  • Possess outstanding written and verbal skills.
  • Strategic and tactical thinker.
  • Keen focus on evidence-based marketing with experience using metrics and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into consolidated, compelling messages.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to successfully engage and influence across a bi-coastal organization and with authors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under extreme time constraints.
  • Ability to execute projects independently, as well as working effectively in team settings.
  • Must be creative, flexible, and motivated team member.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Proven computer skills must include email, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarity with Lyris, Hitbox, and Google Adwords is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of marketing experience, preferably with a media business.
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with publishing or media business.
